Graduating with Distinction:
Presidential Classroom Honor Graduate Program
The Presidential Classroom Honor Graduate Program is an opportunity to extend your week outside of Washington, DC to include political activity
or government service in your own community.
Why become an Honor Graduate?
How
do I become an Honor Graduate?
-
Complete
50 hours of volunteer, public service within one year
of program attendance. This should be work on a political
campaign or lobbying effort, or as a government intern
or legislative page. Other activities may apply.

Submit
the application
package including a one-page description of your public
service and the impact of Presidential Classroom, and
a letter of confirmation from a person "in charge"
of the activity to:

Eligible Activities
Government Service
- Internship in federal or local government office
- Page for legislative body
- Member or youth representative on government board such as a school board or town council
- Internship in a judicial office
Political Activity
- Political campaign volunteer or staff member
- Election worker or observer
- Voter registration or “Get Out the Vote” campaign
- Lobbying
- Polling
- Participating in political grass roots efforts
International Service
- Internship with the United Nations
- Internship with the World Bank
- Internship with the International Monetary Fund
The following examples are worthy contributions, but do not qualify for Honors Graduate status:
- School activities including elected office (i.e. student council)
- Volunteer activities in the community including:
- Children’s Programs
- Health Programs
- Senior Citizens Programs
- Environmental Programs
