Leading Others

Before Your Presentation on Presidential Classroom:
  • Get permission from the administration (i.e. teacher, principal, youth group leader).
  • See Presidential Classroom's website (www.presidentialclassroom.org) to note upcoming application and scholarship application deadlines, tuition costs, program schedules.
  • Bring mementos to help describe your week in Washington (i.e. wear the t-shirt you bought, point yourself out in the class photo, show pictures you took and copies of your "Presidential Dailies." These will help you remember all that you did!)

Introduce Yourself and Presidential Classroom:

  • How did you first learn of Presidential Classroom?

  • Did you do any fundraising to support your participation? What worked best?

  • What is the history of the organization?
Founded in 1968, with origins in the administrations of Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, Presidential Classroom prepares young leaders for responsible citizenship by providing them the opportunity to explore the American political process firsthand. Presidential Classroom takes students behind the scenes of our nation's capital for seminars and discussions featuring Members of Congress, Presidential appointees, journalists and other Washington insiders.

Complementing students' Washington experiences are their personal explorations through discussions and getting to know others from different backgrounds. The academic intensity and excitement of the program blend to give all Presidential Classroom Scholars a personal leadership experience that will serve them well in their college career and beyond.
