Requirements Presidential Classroom students are the best and brightest from the United States and abroad. To participate, students must:
Like many colleges and universities, Presidential Classroom employs a rolling admissions procedure. Applications postmarked by December 1, 2005 for Winter Sessions or April 4, 2006 for Summer Sessions will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The earlier an application is received, the more likely the students will be granted admission into his/her first choice of programs. After the deadlines, applications will be accepted on a space-available basis. You will be notified of your acceptance to the program within four weeks. You will receive an invoice for the remainder of the tuition less the deposit. Balance is due six weeks prior to the program you are assigned begins. After you register, a "Welcome Packet" with the Student Handbook will be sent, with complete information about your program and curriculum, dress code and how to prepare for a wonderful week in Washington. Until then, e-mail or call us toll free with your questions at 800-441-6533. We welcome students with special physical needs. To help us accommodate these students, we encourage them or their parents to contact Presidential Classroom before registration. We have arranged for American Sign Language interpreters through Gallaudet University during the week of March 18-24, 2007. Nomination and Application Process Presidential Classroom looks for outstanding young leaders from across the country and around the world who are sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school (graduating seniors may participate in our summer programs), maintain a “B” average and show commitment to their local communities and school activities. There are several ways students receive invitations to apply: Nominations The Nomination Program allows counselors, teachers, principals, family members and alumni to nominate eligible students to a Presidential Classroom program. Students are sent invitations to apply based on their nominations but must also meet admission qualifications listed above. Nominations can be submitted by mail, fax or online. Student Talent Search Programs National student talent search programs identify eligible students based on their academic achievements, school activities and future ambitions. Students identified in this manner receive special invitations from Presidential Classroom. Partnerships Presidential Classroom aligns themselves with like-minded organizations in the pursuit of providing opportunities for young leaders. Based on these relationships, Presidential Classroom is pleased to offer an invitation to those qualified students. Self Nomination Students may apply on their own based on their individual accomplishments. Students must meet the above admission requirements and are notified on a rolling basis. |
